For me, an event worth attending is an event worth photographing. It doesn’t matter how small or out of the norm it is. It could be as intimate as a dinner party or an end of life celebration. It could be a before and after session of a home or business remodeling project, or it could be documenting your property for insurance. In more traditional settings, I can also photograph your volunteer events, small business presentations or conferences.

When a person or organization considers me to be their photographer, I picture myself walking around before and during the event and come up with questions for the event’s organizers. What kind of feeling do they want me to portray with my photography? Do they want me to be part of the crowd or stand apart and do a documentary type of photography? How artistic do they want me to be?

I might take 75 photos of one scene to get you the photograph that you want. It’s exciting to show you something unexpected. My clients are what keep me going in a big way. I respect your choices and I want to make you feel special.

I love to use my skills with different lighting conditions to get the viewer’s attention. When other photographers use a flash, I may not. I may use a tripod inside a bright convention hall with full lighting to allow me to blur the motion of a juggler for example. If a person stands looking at one of my photographs for five minutes, not even noticing how long they are there, my work is successful.

Everywhere I go, I have a camera with me. I take photographs as I walk down the street and of the work I do. Sometimes I am at the right place at the right time and there is a scene that deserves my attention. I am already there so I work around the challenges of nighttime photography, inclement weather, often times stopping what I am doing to be a photographer. I get out my camera and go to work.
